Joe Bruce
VP of Innovation and Gathering Since the age of 15, I’ve worked to become a leader in Nevada. My plan began in the summer of 2015, attending 16 micro-internships at top educational institutions, government agencies and nonprofits and meetings with key state leaders. The Governor’s Office was so impressed with my prodigious knowledge of Nevada, I was offered a legislative internship involving energy and workforce development. At the age of 16, based primarily on my work at the Governor’s Office, I became the first intern at Tesla under the age of 18. At Tesla I helped design key workforce development and STEM education programs over two summers, so the Governor appointed me to the Nevada Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board. Based on my extraordinary work experience by the age of 17, Dr. Nazir Ansari accepted my request to study with him weekly using The Economist as a learning platform. Finally, having helped design a 501(c)3 organization and served the public multiple ways, I was asked to speak at the Nevada Museum of Art on the future of philanthropy. I am the VP of Innovation and Gathering at Good Deed Hunting. My responsibilities include website design, donor opportunities and leadership engagement. Sarah Bruce VP of Design and Thanksgiving My name is Sarah Bruce. I’m a middle-school student at Sage Ridge School and the VP of Design and Thanksgiving at Good Deed Hunting. I love spending time with my friends. I enjoy running track in my free time, especially sprints and hurdles. I’m most interested in architecture and design, something I learned from my grandmother who is a wonderful designer and who shares articles and images with me. I’d like to go to college in Manhattan at an architecture and design school. I like Good Deed Hunting because it makes my heart feel good to help someone who is disadvantaged or less fortunate than I am. People should get nice things when they do nice things. And leaders should help nice people become leaders. I think it all makes sense. Hopefully, we will make a lot of good things happen in town. Mallory Benna VP of Imagery and Gathering My name is Mallory Benna and I am the VP of Imagery and Gathering at Good Deed Hunting. I am a student at Bishop Manogue Catholic High school. I enjoy playing soccer and travelling in my free time. I have volunteered for the Education Fund of Northern Nevada as an administrative assistant and made animal toys for Noah’s Animal Shelter. My interest in service has grown from the admiration I have for my grandparents, Bruno and Edna Benna, who were prominent figures in the community through their service and donation. Their charitable deeds are what inspired me to get involved with Good Deed Hunting. I find service to my community very rewarding, especially when I can directly impact students like myself. This opportunity is very important to me because it allows me to get hands-on experience working with generous people, like my grandparents, to spread the virtue of hard work to my peers in order to better our community. Dominic Benna VP of 110% and Gathering My name is Dom Benna and I am the VP of 110% and Gathering at Good Deed Hunting. I am a student at Bishop Manogue Catholic High school. My hobbies include long boarding, wakeboarding, surfing, and skiing. I also enjoy playing basketball and swimming for my high school and club teams. I have volunteered for the Children’s Cabinet of Northern Nevada as a mentor and group leader for underprivileged kids and packaged food for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. I have become so interested in service to my community through my uncle and one of my greatest role models, Mark Bruce. Growing up I always saw him as the goofy uncle who always put a smile on my face and I can’t say much has changed there. The only difference is now I can see the change and service he has brought to his local community. His work is an inspiration to me and I hope, through Good Deed Hunting, I may have the same effect. Eli Benna VP of Friendliness and Thanksgiving My name is Eli and I am the VP of Friendliness and Gathering at Good Deed Hunting. I am a second grader at Hunsberger Elementary School. In my free time, I like to play baseball, basketball, and soccer. I also do tae kwon-do. I like to help other people because it makes me feel good. It doesn't matter if they know you did the good thing because it still feels great inside. Eleanore Hamilton VP of What’s Happenin’ and Gathering My name is Eleanore Hamilton and I am the VP of What’s Happenin’ and Gathering at Good Deed Hunting. Words have always mattered to me. In this opportunity to spread the word about Good Deed Hunting I will incorporate my experience as a columnist and my interest in social justice and human rights to shine light on the good work of mentors and kids, telling the stories that matter. Beyond my work with Good Deed Hunting, I am a Nordic skier at Sugar Bowl Academy. I have always been active in my community: helping teen mothers with their children, interning at our local paper, teaching violin to a young friend who can’t afford private lessons; writing a regular column for Moonshine Ink, and organizing and implementing a service trip to Athens to place myself and some peers in the center of the refugee crisis. In my spare time, I love to bake and travel. Frances Joy Hamilton VP of Melodies and Thanksgiving Music makes my life whole. Whether I am singing or composing, whether I’m playing upright bass or piano, I feel happy and challenged. Music connects people to each other and to the earth. It brings out the beauty in everything. I am excited to add the dimension of music to Good Deed Hunting. When I am not playing music for myself or in my band, I attend Sugar Bowl Academy, where I am a Nordic skier. I like to race, but I really love to crust-cruise off the trails in the sun-filled valleys. I love art, languages, traveling, climbing trees, producing musical events, and learning new things. |
